Nathan our Tech guy saved our bacon again.
For those of you who don't know about the warp function it is brilliant. It allows a location to be set so that the same location can be found again at a later date.
This is particularly useful when students loose their work site.
I also found it much more productive than the forty minutes I spent flying around trying to locate the student's projects.
To create
/setwarp (name)
/delwarp (name)
/warp(name) gets you to location.

Research Project
Good day to all Minecraft teachers. We are currently looking for partners who may be interested in participating in our Minecraft student research project and our online student international minecraft connection project. The title will be changed to something more interesting when we have time to brain dump it. U

Plans Change...... :)
As with all schools things don't always go to plan.
Over the last few weeks our students have been involved in athletics, cross country running and NAPLAN testing.
Due to these events our Minecraft sessions have had to be postponed.
We have had some very disappointed Minecrafters who are really keen to get back on track.
As part of a great TEAM at Doveton College, we need to be flexible, adaptable and ready to go with the flow. We are great at that!
We look forward to sharing our next sessions and reflections as soon as we can.
Thanks

Plan Term 2 Week 4 Session 9
Week 4
Session 9
Minecraft - Creative Mode
Build session – complete the interactive structures to be
used for tutoring year 3s
Out of world
Structure
Sit at same computer as previous week (computer # recorded
in student list)
Log into same server – all kids in the right world.
Instruction
Outline goal, purpose and aim of session. Build session.
Give explicit instructions to find each other in world. Students
are to do this in a set period.
Time management - Set timer 2 min to locate your team
Team conference
The team goal
Today's session is Building.
Long term goal is teaching others to use their structures and MC software.
Once they have located their team mates, they are to stop "hands off computer" and have a team discussion, they are to redefine allocated
tasks. This will enable all team members to have clearly in their minds what
their individual responsibilities are to achieve the team goal.
In world
Begin/continue the construction.
Reflection Term 2 week 2 session 8
Reflections Week 2
Session 8
Issues
Students could not find each other, Could not (or did not!) find each other.
Could not find their structures and pick up where they left off.
We found that the excitement level and enthusiasm for using
the MC software over weighed the responsibility of the students in getting
straight on with the set tasks. They got into their world and did not
immediately locate their team mates, so they took the opportunity to “play”. we did not achieve the goals we set for this session, which were to get the structures near completion.
What can we do to fix this?
We are going give tighter time lines set a 2 min deadline to
locate their team.
We are going to ask each team to stop at this point and have
a conversation to allow them to communicate and define their individual roles
to reach the team goal. we will make our expectations explicit before they get into the MC world!
This will be
reflected in the plan for the next session.
